2nd vet visit

I took Odin to the vet the other day for his second round of shot. 2 more rounds to go. I like my vet! Today I am taking him to get him nails cut because I am have a HARD time doing it. I think it is because I went to short when he squirmed once and now he freaks out:(

Potty training is getting better, only a few accidents now. He is learning that it is not okay to bite down hard on our fingers. He learned Down and Sit:)

First week down!

Odin is my little man!

Let's see...This week has been very eventful for my little pup! He goes to bed a midnight and wakes at 7am, like clock work. He does his business outside every time I let him out now. I can't wait until he gets a little taller so I can see if he's peeing. I have to crouch low on the ground to look or even have to feel to see if he has gone LOL!

One morning he was chewing on his kennel bars, got his jaw stuck and was not able to get it out. That was the saddest cry I ever heard! If anything I think that taught him not to chew on the bars!

I took him to a vet near me just so I could get him looked over and get on a schedule for his upcoming shots. Sadly he had an ear infection when I got him, but he's doing fine now with his ear drops.

We took him to the 2009 Florida Corgi Picnic this past weekend! He has a blast! I think he is still napping to catch up from the excitement. He had to stay on the leash, but you would have never known that he was only 9 weeks old by the way he played with the bigger dogs that came around. He got to see his sister Cinny and brother Goliath. It was cute to watch them say hi to each other:) But when you compared Odin to them he was SOOO much bigger! I swear I'm not overfeeding him lol. He doesn't even finish the "recommend amount"

He is offically all switched over to his new food, Innova Puppy. He is a super pooper now:) His paws met Mr. Dremel yesterday, he wasn't too happy, but it takes time. He doesn't mind Roomba much, if anything it may become a new excersise tool:)

My family came down to Orlando to meet Odin. My mom and aunt can not figure out why he doesn't have a tail. I think they think it is weird. It was hard trying to explain that Corgis are herding dogs and the tails get docked so they don't get stepped on. Their nick name for him is O din din. greattttt! LOL! Sable, my family's Pomeranian was not too happy to meet Odin. Hopefully when they meet again for Thanksgiving things will run a little smoother. Dad and Ruby love him!

Let the fun begin!

The true puppy has arrived!

Let me start out by saying that he sleeps through the night in his kennel and is doing really well with the bell ringing:)

Up until today Odin did well in his kennel, but that is partly because he goes in when he is already tired....
Today we learned that he doesn't like when I am not there with him by his kennel. I tried to put him in and wait until he calmed down to let him out again. It took him 2 hours to stop crying and barking! I thought it would be more like 10 min when he would just get tired and fall asleep. Guess not lol. He even cries in his pen...just takes time I guess.

Day 1 with Odin

ODIN IS HERE!!!!!

I can't believe it! There is a Corgi puppy following me around everywhere now!

He is perfect. He is learning pretty fast. The kennel wasn't a problem at all, he slept through the night! He woke me up at 3am, but I expected it, then again at 8am..I took him out both times and he did his business:)

When ever he touches his bell I let him out...so I hope gets the hang of it:) I introduced him to lots of people yesterday and he did so well! He didn't cower or shake, all he did was wag his little stub!

He is currently sleeping with my boyfriend, Adam. It's precious:)

Cashed in the coin jar

Wow!

I can't believe it. I will actually have a corgi puppy running around tomorrow. The past 3 years has felt like a long journey...even though the journey is not over:)

Odin's coin jar was all cashed in today. It felt amazing to actually use it for what it was saved for...and not just Orlando tolls lol. All apartment contract payments have been paid(which were more than the price of my dog!)

The only contracts left are those with the breeder. And they will be signed at Odin's vets office, where I will pick up papers..and him of course!

DIY Puppy Play Pen

All puppy play pens that are sold in stores or online are all over $100.00! I wanted a pen that was easy to move, light weight, and NOT over 100 dollars!

This is what my boyfriend and I made, under $30.00!

It is made with PVC and pet screen. The size is double than what the picture shows. I have to more pieces that I can add on if I'd like too:)The idea came from Utopia Poodles

It is a work in progress. Once Odin arrives I will let you know the changes I make. The pen is only meant for supervised play time:)

9 days to go!

With 9 days left it is hard to get my mind off of him!
Today I did a nice little shopping trip :)
  • Stain Remover
  • Bitter Apple
  • Kong Stuffers
  • Shampoo
  • Blue leash and puppy collar
  • Loofah dog
  • Ear cleaner
  • Puppy Nylabone
  • Training treats

All I need now is to make a bell for him to ring when he needs to "go out". (Ring a Bell)

I am not buying puppy pads because I have a semesters worth of the Wall Street Journal LOL. It is my goal to take him out A LOT so he won't need to use them:)

I will review how he does with certain toys and treats when the time comes!

    Injury due to puppy thoughts...

As the DAY gets closer I get even more excited!

Last Monday I was walking to class with an extra pip in my step since I recived a new picture of Odin the day before. I was rambling to my boyfriend (who now just smiles and nodds) about puppy things... and before I knew it I was on the ground with a sprained ankle! I dont even have him yet and I am already hurting myself...

Here is the newest video of the puppies that was done October 18th. (Click Here)

The breeder will be sending new pictures this week. It was a little too cold to put the puppies outside for the first time today.

    Update from Oct. 11th

Odin was born September 12th 2009 and is able to come home to me November 6th 2009:)
The breeder is allowing us to meet the pups at 6 weeks!

    What's His Name?

His name is going to be Odin. Like the Norse God. I originally wanted it to be spelled Oden, so when I get another I could name it Dashi. Oden & Dashi are 2 foods that go together in Japan.

I am still going to get another! Maybe even have 3 one day:)

    - A red/white male (check)
    - A Fluffy tri-colored female
    - A Cardigan

    ...one can dream!

    Puppy Shopping

Went out to buy Odin a kennel, Wubba Kong, and a puppy Kong bone.
I wanted to see what it will be like, so I put my stuffed Corgi in the kennel till Odin arrives:)

    New Picture @ 23 days

This was the first time I got to see him with his eyes open! Here's a video of the litter at the time:)

    Curiosity bought a Corgi

While doing my corgi web surfing routine on a Wednesday afternoon I noticed there were 2 red/white male corgi pups still available from Celestial Star Kennel, a breeder near the Orlando area. I have been following this breeder for over 2 years now and have been in LOVE with the breed! I am a dictionary when it comes to the facts:)
Ever since I saw that puppy I contemplated if I was ready or not to bring a puppy in my life. Through out the day "NO" was my final answer, but then I would try to convince myself that I was ready. It was one emotional roller coaster.

Out of curiosity I emailed Celeste, the breeder, just to get some more information on the process of purchasing a puppy.

The next morning Celeste emailed me back with all the information on purchasing a corgi puppy, it even came with more pictures! I fell in love! I didn't email her back because I was still going through the "I want it, but do I need it" phase. I called my father to try and get his opinion on the situation. Looking for him to tell me if it was a good idea even though I already knew what he was going to say. "It's up to you if you think you can handle it" Thanks dad! You're no help! LOL! But that's how I was raised, to make my own decisions.

As I walked through a parking lot still debating, my phone rang with a number I did not recognize. I picked it up just in case it was a team member from school needing my help with something. I said "hello" and when the person on the other side responded I knew I recognized the voice from somewhere. I watch youtube videos of corgis when ever I get a chance, and this voice was from youtube! It was the breeder that I had emailed the night before! To this day I have no idea how she got my number, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

She introduced herself then proceeded to tell me that another lady just inquired about the same puppy that I was interested in. She asked me if I wanted him since I was the first to email her. So right then and there I was not allowed to contemplate any further!

    ...I stuttered...."I want the puppy"
